Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been on fire in the early weeks of the NFL season, showcasing his talent and skill on the field. After an impressive performance in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, marking his first such honor since 2020.
In that game, Allen threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Bills on touchdown-scoring drives in each of their five first-half possessions. His stellar play didn’t go unnoticed, as he led all AFC quarterbacks in several categories through the first month of the season. With nine total touchdowns, a 116.5 passer rating, and a TD-INT ratio of 7-0, Allen was setting the bar high for his peers in the AFC.
Allen’s impressive stats didn’t stop there. In Week 1, he joined an elite group by recording his fourth game with two-plus passing and two-plus rushing touchdowns, tying Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young for the most all time. Despite teammate James Cook’s standout performance in Week 2, Allen continued to make history by becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to achieve certain milestones in a single game against Jacksonville.
Not only has Allen been racking up accolades on an individual level, but he has also been rewriting the Buffalo Bills’ record book. His 101 passing attempts without an interception to start the season are the most by any Bills quarterback since Joe Ferguson in 1976.
Despite his remarkable achievements on the field, Allen has faced some challenges as well. He has been dealing with an injured non-throwing hand, which has forced him to alter his snap acceptance and ball-handling techniques. Even with these obstacles, Allen has continued to shine and lead his team to victory.
In Week 4, Allen had a relatively quiet game, throwing for 180 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, and adding 21 rushing yards. Despite the dip in production, Allen’s overall performance in the early part of the season has solidified his status as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
