The Baltimore Ravens, a team known for their grit and determination, received some good news on Friday with the return of two key starters to practice. Center Tyler Linderbaum and Mark Andrews were both spotted on the practice field, according to a report by The Athletic. Andrews’ presence on the field was particularly encouraging, as it marked his first practice since a frightening car accident on August 14th.
Just two Wednesdays ago, the Ravens made an announcement regarding Andrews’ accident, revealing that he had been involved in a car crash while on his way to the team facilities. Thankfully, he was evaluated by the team’s medical staff and was found to have not suffered any significant injuries. Despite the scare, Andrews was able to join team meetings later that day.
“I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and well wishes,” Andrews shared in a statement following the incident. “This is a great reminder about the importance of wearing seatbelts and remaining alert while driving a car.”
Last season, Andrews showcased his talent on the field, hauling in 45 passes for 544 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games played. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a serious injury sustained during a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Reports from NFL Media indicated that Andrews had suffered a cracked fibula and ligament damage to his ankle, stemming from a controversial “hip-drop” tackle. Despite the setback, Andrews made a miraculous return for the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he made two receptions for 15 yards.
Interestingly enough, the Ravens are set to kick off their 2024 season against the Chiefs this upcoming Thursday night. This highly anticipated rematch between the top two teams from the previous AFC season is sure to be a thrilling battle, with Andrews’ return adding an extra layer of excitement for Ravens fans. As the team prepares for this pivotal showdown, the resilience and dedication of players like Andrews remind us of the unwavering spirit that defines the game of football.
