In a surprising move, the Green Bay Packers have made the decision to suspend wide receiver Romeo Doubs for one game due to what they have deemed as conduct detrimental to the team. This decision came after Doubs was absent from practice on both Thursday and Friday, citing personal reasons.
Originally listed as doubtful for the team’s upcoming Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, more details have emerged surrounding Doubs’ absence. According to Sports Illustrated, the veteran receiver skipped practice because he was displeased with his lack of opportunities in the passing game. This discontent ultimately led to his suspension.
General manager Brian Gutekunst expressed disappointment in having to suspend Doubs, stating, “His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action.” Despite the setback, Gutekunst remains hopeful for Doubs’ return, highlighting his value to the team.
At 24 years old and currently on his rookie deal through the 2025 season, Doubs has been a prominent target in the Packers’ passing game. With 20 targets, 12 receptions, and 169 receiving yards so far this season, Doubs ranks among the team leaders in these categories.
