In a shocking turn of events, Micah Parsons will not be donning the Dallas Cowboys uniform when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday night. Despite his absence, Parsons still made headlines with his bold statements on his podcast “The Edge” regarding the Steelers’ new quarterback, Justin Fields.
“I think Justin [has] won the team over,” Parsons declared, praising Fields’ impressive performance in Pittsburgh. “Justin is really, really good. … I’m glad that the Steelers and Mike Tomlin [have] been able to get his confidence back, because the Bears probably stripped him of it. They kinda said, ‘We don’t need you anymore. You’re less valuable.’ They kinda just shipped him off. I thought the Bears should’ve kept him. And I thought Justin was a legit talent, and now he’s somewhere else flourishing.”
Parsons didn’t hold back when discussing the Bears’ decision to part ways with Fields, emphasizing that they didn’t just “kinda” ship him out of town, but they indeed did. The Chicago team settled for a conditional late-round draft pick in exchange for the former first-rounder, only to select new quarterback Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams, however, has struggled to live up to expectations, with five turnovers in his first four games as a rookie.
Initially, Fields wasn’t supposed to be the Steelers’ starting quarterback for the 2024 season, as veteran Russell Wilson was expected to lead the team. However, Wilson has been sidelined with a calf injury that he aggravated during the preseason, giving Fields the opportunity to shine. The former Bears starter has seized the moment, going 3-1 while boasting a career-high 70.6% completion rate.
As Parsons gears up to watch his teammates take on the Steelers, his focus remains on the rising star that is Justin Fields. The quarterback’s journey from Chicago to Pittsburgh has been nothing short of remarkable, leaving many to wonder if the Bears made a grave mistake in parting ways with such a talented player. Only time will tell if Fields’ success will continue to soar, but one thing is for certain – Micah Parsons is definitely a supporter of the young quarterback.
