The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the winless Carolina Panthers, dropping their record to 1-2 on the season. The game was not even as close as the final score of 36-22 indicated, as the Panthers dominated from start to finish.
Coach Antonio Pierce did not hold back in his post-game comments, calling out certain players on his team for their lack of effort. “I think there were definitely some individuals who made business decisions, and we’ll make business decisions going forward as well,” Pierce told reporters, hinting at potential roster changes.
Carolina took a commanding 21-7 lead by halftime, which ultimately grew to 33-7 early in the fourth quarter. With Andy Dalton at quarterback in place of Bryce Young, the Panthers offense thrived. Dalton threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Chuba Hubbard racked up 114 rushing yards on 21 carries.
The Raiders defense struggled to contain the Panthers, allowing them to average 6.2 yards per play. On the offensive side, Las Vegas managed just one touchdown in the first quarter and struggled to sustain drives effectively throughout the game.
When asked about any positives to take away from the game, Coach Pierce responded bluntly, “Nothing.” The Raiders will need to regroup and make significant improvements moving forward if they hope to turn their season around after such a disappointing loss.
