The Los Angeles Rams have been hit hard by a stroke of bad luck when it comes to injuries, with key players falling one after another. The latest blow came on Sunday during practice when Pro Bowl wide receiver Puka Nacua had to leave early.
According to The Athletic, Nacua exited practice after just over an hour, with a bag of ice wrapped around his right knee. Rams coach Sean McVay was unsure of what exactly happened, but the team later confirmed that Nacua is “week-to-week” with a knee injury that is fortunately not serious.
Nacua, a fifth-round pick last season, made a significant impact in his rookie year, setting NFL records for receptions and receiving yards. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by the Rams offense.
In addition to Nacua, the Rams are also dealing with injuries to starting offensive linemen Alaric Jackson, Rob Havenstein, and Jonah Jackson. All three linemen are considered “week-to-week.” Jonah Jackson’s injury, in particular, may take up to six weeks to heal, putting his availability for the season opener against the Lions in doubt.
McVay expressed confidence in Jonah Jackson’s ability to bounce back from this setback, praising his mental toughness and the support system around him. Despite the challenges, the Rams remain optimistic about their injured players making a full recovery and returning to the field as soon as possible.
